The overall objective of the project is to facilitate the movement of persons and goods across borders in the six Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, namely the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine. At the same time the project works to maintain secure borders through the enhancement of inter-agency cooperation, bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation among the target countries, EU member States and other international stakeholders.

The project will also assist with measures to be taken in order to implement the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Trade Facilitation, which includes provisions on better coordination among agencies as well as on measures that will be covered by the current project.

The activities of the project are being implemented and coordinated by FRONTEX. The role of the IOM regional and local offices, including IOM Mission to Moldova, is to facilitate the intended activities and provide necessary services for ensuring a smooth running of the project.
