IOM Deputy Director-General, Ugochi Daniels, met with the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, Alexei Buzu, at the UN headquarters in New York
New York, March - The Deputy Director-General for Operations of the International Organization for Migration, Ugochi Daniels, held a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, at the UN headquarters in New York.
The contribution of migrants to the socio-economic development of the Republic of Moldova was discussed, as well as the ILO's commitment to engage in concrete joint actions to enhance labor mobility and social protection and to strengthen partnerships, capacity building and sustainable impact for the benefit of Moldovans and migrants.
As Moldova increasingly becomes a country of labor mobility, with significant movements of migrants, both inward and outward, IOM support was also discussed and secured to strengthen assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings.
