IOM’s support to advance Moldova's integration strategies for foreigners
Chisinau, September 10 - Today, the International Organization for Migration in the Republic of Moldova was invited to attend and bring the opening remarks at the Coordination Meeting of the Commission of Activities on Migration and Asylum, organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) at the Government House to address pivotal issues on migration and to further collective efforts in the gradual integration of foreigners in Moldova.
The Coordination meeting was chaired by Mariana Lucrețeanu, president of the Commission and MIA’s State Secretary, with the participation of Moldovan authorities with migration-related mandates and representatives of international partners, including IOM Moldova’s Chief of Mission, Ester Ruiz de Azua, and Bertrand Blanc, Resident Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Moldova.
Ester Ruiz de Azua, Chief of Mission of IOM Moldova: “IOM’s programmatic work on migration governance, migration and development, labour migration, migration and climate change, among other key areas, remains a core priority. Supporting the current reforms at the Ministry of Internal Affairs is crucial for the integration of foreigners, in compliance with the commitment to supporting the implementation of the strategic activities outlined in the National Programme for Migration and Asylum and its implementation plan for 2022-2025.”
