Awareness Raising Project for Labour Mobility to Bulgaria main results discussed in Chisinau during a workshop

The results of the ‘Awareness Raising for Labour Mobility to Bulgaria’ Project, jointly implemented by the IOM Missions in Bulgaria, Armenia, Georgia and Moldova, were presented and discussed during an event organised by the IOM Mission in Moldova, in cooperation with the with Ministry of Labour and Social Protection from the Republic of Moldova on 30 November 2023.
The event commenced with the opening remarks of Mr. Lars Johan Lönnback, IOM Moldova Chief of Mission; Mr. Radoslav Stamenkov, IOM Bulgaria Head of Office; Ms. Christina Coman, Main Counsultant, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection; Ms. Raisa Dogaru, Director of the National Employment Agency; Dr. Daffinka Prokopova, Secretary II of Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova. Representatives of IOM Missions in Moldova, Bulgaria, Georgia were also present at the workshop.
The Project is financed under the Bulgarian National Programme, supported by Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020 of the European Union, and aims to contribute to safer and better managed labour mobility from Armenia, Georgia and Moldova to Bulgaria.
The participants discussed the results of the current project which is implemented during 2021-2023 and which carried out a targeted information campaign on the rights and obligations of the labour migrants planning to work in Bulgaria and outreach to citizens of Armenia, Georgia and Moldova with delivering information on Bulgarian labour and social context. During the event, the participants underlined that project supported the regular migration pathways, in general, and the implementation of the bilateral labour migration agreement signed by Moldovan and Bulgaria contributing therefore to the implementation of the SDG 10.7 and 23rd GCM Objective which aims at strengthening international cooperation and global partnerships for safe, orderly and regular migration.
In this regard, Mr. Lars Johan Lönnback, IOM Moldova Chief of Mission underlined that “The current project significantly supported the implementation of labour migration management in Moldova bringing in the awareness rising component and promoting well informed decisions of Moldovan labour migrants. The project provided substantial support to the relevant authorities in Moldova to support the implementation of the bilateral labour agreement between Moldova and Bulgaria, which has a special connotation, including to the presence of a Bulgarian minority in Gagauzia Region of the Republic of Moldova”.
