The Director General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, meets with Moldovan Border Officials at the Palanca border crossing

DG Amy Pope with the Regional Director, Manfred Profazi, IOM Moldova’s Chief of Mission, Lars Johan Lönnback, the Head of the General Inspectorate of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, Ruslan Galusca, and the Head of the International Cooperation Directorate at General Inspectorate of Border Police, Eugen Levco.

Chisinau, April 9 - The Director General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, was able to witness Moldova’s work as a strong supporter of safe and regular pathways, a close partner to Ukraine on the refugee crisis, and a big-hearted country which has opened its borders to more than a million Ukrainian refugees and migrants since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine.

At the Palanca border crossing, DG Amy Pope heard from border officials about IOM Moldova's support to scale-up its capacity and preparedness in the event of a second influx.

"Moldova is a strong advocate of regular pathways and a dedicated partner to Ukraine and those who fled the war in #Ukraine2YearsOn. Here, at the Palanca border crossing, @IOMMoldova and partners continue to scale-up capacities and preparedness to support vulnerable communities.," said DG Amy Pope on X.
