The first Family Justice Centre in Moldova to protect survivors of gender-based violence and their children is now open, thanks to the US and the reconstructions works of IOM

Chisinau, 10 October

The first Family Justice Centre in Moldova celebrated its opening after months of reconstruction works conducted by IOM Moldova, within a project generously funded by the Government of the United States. 

The establishment of the Family Justice Center under the leadership of the General Police Inspectorate will enhance the capacity of officials in providing immediate and qualitative support to the survivors within a single service, breaking the cycle of domestic and sexual violence through the provision of services aimed at rebuilding and restoring lives. 

The opening ceremony was attended by Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova, by Adrian Efros, Minister of Internal Affairs, Kent D. Logsdon, US Ambassador in Moldova, Lars Johan Lönnback, IOM Moldova’s Chief of Mission, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, Head of the General Inspectorate of Police, Mark James Williams, President of Te Doy Foundation and other officials from US and Moldova.
