IOM, Japan Donate Cancer Meds to Moldova
Chisinau – In the context of the ongoing refugee crisis, between 6-18 June, the International Organization for Migration, Mission in Moldova (IOM) in partnership with the General Inspectorate of Border Police (GIBP)is conducting a series of trainings on the identification of victims of trafficking for 20 groups of first-line border police officers.
This activity, part of a broader capacity building assistance package offered by IOM, targets 400 officers from 18 border crossing points who, with the support of a team of international and national experts, will improve their skills to spot signs of trafficking in persons within mixed migration flows as well as interview and refer potential victims.
“From the first days of the training program, I have noticed the participants energy and desire to get involved in this extremely important process, such as identifying potential victims crossing the border. Even if the sessions are concentrated, they have already expressed their appreciation for the topics discussed and have been actively involved in the exchanges o various topics. I am convinced that this program will improve the identification process and I hope that they will apply these methods in practice as frequent as possible ", mentioned Mr. Romulus Nicolae Ungureanu the invited international expert.

The training is organized within the project “Prevention and protection of trafficking in persons victims and at-risk populations in Moldova”, funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
