IOM Moldova attended the fifth edition of the Moldova Support Platform
Chisinau, September 17, 2024 - Today, the fifth edition of the Ministerial Conference of the Partnership Platform for the Republic of Moldova, co-chaired by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, France, Germany, Romania, took place in Chisinau with the participation of Moldovan national authorities and high-level representatives from 38 States and 22 international organizations, including international financial institutions.
The conference, which aims to mobilize, concentrate, and coordinate the political, technical, and financial support of the developed countries for the Republic of Moldova by generating immediate political, financial, and material assistance, as well as in-depth expertise for the democratic reform progress, was attended by IOM as one of the fore-front UN specialized agency providing support to the Republic of Moldova as part of the United Nations Country Team led by the Resident Coordinator, Yesim Oruc.
“The International Organization for Migration welcomes the outcomes of the fifth Ministerial Conference of the Partnership Platform for the Republic of Moldova, and will further contribute to Government’s border management policy, the migration, asylum and integration legal framework, access to the labor market for returnee migrants and refugees, energy resilience, water supply and sanitation services for vulnerable households.” commented Ester Ruiz de Azua, IOM Moldova's Chief of Mission and head of IOM delegation at the Ministerial Conference.
Digitalization of public services for all, citizens, migrants, refugees, and diaspora as well, will remain key areas of IOM’s engagement, through support for adoption of policy level documents and also through development and deployment of technical and software solutions, including in relation to digital identity and responsible use of biometry.
