Chisinau – October 18, 2023
The fourth edition of the Moldova Support Platform took place in Chisinau on October 17th, co-chaired by the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany, Romania, and the Republic of Moldova, with the participation of Moldovan national authorities as well as ministers and high-level representatives from 37 States and 20 international organizations, including international financial institutions.
The conference, which aims to mobilize, concentrate, and coordinate the political, technical, and financial support of the developed countries for the Republic of Moldova by generating immediate political, financial, and material assistance, as well as in-depth expertise for the democratic reform progress, was attended by IOM as one of the fore-front UN specialized agency proving support to the Republic of Moldova as part of the United Nations Country Team.
“The International Organization for Migration welcomes the outcomes of the Moldova Support Platform, and will further contribute to border management policy, ‘Solidarity Lanes’, energy resilience for vulnerable households, the governments’ winterization plan, and technical support for government’s response to refugees”, stated Dejan Keserovic, Senior Regional Advisor for Europe and Central Asia, and head of IOM delegation present at Moldova Support Platform.
Digitalization of public services for all, citizens, migrants, refugees, and diaspora as well, will remain key areas of IOM’s engagement, through support for adoption of policy level documents and also through development and deployment of technical and software solutions, including in relation to digital identity and responsible use of biometry.
