Mass Shelter Capability (MaSC) workshops for 60 staff members of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations
Chisinau, Moldova - A closing ceremony at the IGSU Training Centre marked the end of three Mass Shelter Capability (MaSC) workshops in Balti, Cahul and in Chisinau, delivered by IOM, with the organizational support of THW, for involved 60 staff members of the Inspectorate General of Emergency Situations (IGSU) to strengthen their technical and organizational skills in case of need to respond to large-scale temporary shelter emergencies.
During the initiative, attended by Alexandr Tatarov, Deputy Head of IGSU, Lars Johan Lönnback, IOM Moldova Chief of Mission, and Werner Stern, THW Project Manager, the participants of the third workshop received their certificates of attendance.
“Mass Shelter Capability MaSC is more urgent than ever. We saw only few days ago in Moldova the first foreshadowing of new mass movements with the destruction of infrastructure in Ukraine, this combined with the winter conditions. We have big challenges ahead. The 3 workshops courses that have been delivered across the country are a great step towards improving this kind of capability to meet the basic needs both of Moldovans and the refugees. The skills achieved by 60 IGSU staff members in MaSC are indispensable at this time which will benefit the whole country. Thanks to IGSU, to THW for sharing skills and experience, and to our donor partner, the US State Department”, Lars Johan Lönnback said.
