Workshop on Legal Identity System in the Republic of Moldova organized by IOM
Chisinau - Legal Identity fulfills people’s basic right to be recognized as a person before the law, as enshrined in Article 6 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. At the same time, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide Target 16.9 – legal identity for all, including birth registration.
IOM Moldova is closely collaborating with the relevant national authorities and other stakeholders to complete a comprehensive assessment of the Moldovan Legal Identity System. During a workshop convened today, the draft assessment report and its recommendations were reviewed in a spirit of partnership. IOM is part of the UN Legal Identity Expert Group (UN LIEG).
This initiative was generously funded by the 🇮🇹Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation within the project “Strengthening Capacities for the Protection of Ukrainian Refugees, Third Country Nationals and Host Communities in Moldova.”
